Food Pantry Blessings

And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. ~ 2 Corinthians 9:8

Today, I did something I never thought I would do in my life. Normally, I’m the one giving back—helping the less fortunate, supporting others, collecting donations, etc. But this time, it was my turn to be on the receiving end.

After being denied food stamps and 3 appeals, I finally built up the courage to visit a local food pantry. The man and woman volunteering there were incredibly kind and compassionate. The process was simple—just a straightforward application with a few documents—and they provide a basket of groceries once a month. But what truly amazed me was the thoughtfulness behind the food they gave. They didn’t just hand out random items; they provided everything needed to create full meals. I was deeply filled with gratitude.

Before heading out this morning, I had a serious conversation with my Abba. I asked Him not for abundance, but simply for what I needed. And my goodness, did He provide. Not only did the pantry offer food, but they also blessed me with washing powder—something I had completely run out of and hadn’t even thought to ask Abba for. They also offered for me to come back on Wednesday and "shop" for clothes at no charge.

Then, when I returned to the shelter, I received yet another blessing! A neighbor had been gifted an entire case of dry milk. Instead of keeping it all for herself, she chose to share it with everyone at the shelter. Because of her generosity, I now have milk to last an entire month.

Words can’t express how grateful I am. Today was a reminder that even in the hardest moments, provision and kindness are always near. All praise, honor, and glory to our Abba.
